RECOMMENDED DO’S or Don’ts FOR BHRIGU LAKE TREK:-
If you are carrying your own tent, balance the weight of your pack correctly so that it does not hinder your climbing progress. If you are traveling solo, try to reduce the weight of other things as much as possible.
Make sure you pay attention to fitness and manage to run at least 5 km a month before the trek. Before the actual day of climbing, eat enough food and hydrate your body 100%. Try to eat more carbohydrates than any other food group.
If you have never done a high altitude trek before, consult your doctor and check that you are healthy. Ask for a prescription for Diamox and consider taking it to prevent AMS. Eat half a tablet in the morning and half in the evening before going to bed.
If you are hiking in a season with expected snow or snow cover at the summit, near Bhrigu Lake, wear snow goggles to prevent temporary blindness from the sun reflecting off the snow.
There are no food sources at any point on the trek. Make sure you bring something to eat. If you’re not a fan of cooking like me, Nutella and bread are good substitutes. Consider carrying multigrain or wheat bread to keep you full longer. Nutella also provides much-needed energy and raises blood sugar levels.
If you’re going camping alone in the wilderness, bring matches to start a fire or extra deodorant to spray on your tent to keep wild animals away. Most animals don’t like the smell of “scent” and deodorant could be a good deterrent!
